Muncie, Indiana has a hidden tropical island. Along the Cardinal Greenway just north of McGalliard Ave. A wonderful place to relax and have a smoothie, snack or stick your toes in the sand.
Weddings, receptions, reunions, private parties – come check it out. Also look for The Island Muncie on the web.

Looking for a place me and my fiance can run away and get married. Just the 2 of us. Any help would be great. We are not interested in going to TN. Do you know of any packages offered? Cruise weddings?

This would be referred to as a DESTINATION WEDDING -or- ALOPING. If you are not telling anyone. What are your preferences? Thier are some great packages to places like hawaii and jamaica. Try the famous travel sites. Some places will even help you plan your big day on a beach or whatever. Also make sure you know what the weather will be like where you are going. And that you have everything you need like how to apply for a marraige license in the place you will be getting married, passport, and some countries require entry visas! CONGRATULATIONS AND GOOD LUCK!

I am looking to have a simple wedding on the beach, we think it would be really fun to have a laid back style wedding, but does anyone know if your allowed to have a ceremony and reception right on the beach? We were thinking about smith point park since its close to our house, does anyone know anything about it?!:) thanks!

Hello ctj913!

Congratulations on your upcoming marriage!

Most municipalities allow private events to be held in the city parks. Check with the city’s Parks and Recreation Office, if they aren’t the right agency to work through they’ll will direct you appropriately. Often there is a permit required for which there is a moderate fee.

The theme sounds lovely! It brought to mind some cute suggestions for favors…

Adirondack chair candles – very laid back! … http://www.spectacularfavors.com/storename/spectacularfavorscom/dept/255263/ItemDetail-10341877.aspx

My husband and I got married in Puerto Vallarta Mexico. (its legal in the US, if it applies in your situation) It was great! The resort took care of everything! We would not change a thing. The weather was great, a little warm. I would suggest going in fall/winter months. We had it right on the beach. Then we stayed for our honeymoon. We were treated like royalty. The price wasn’t too bad. It was all inclusive. Food was fantastic! (we were not charged for anything while there). Good luck!

How can I find local people who rent out there large homes/backyards for weddings? I know they are out there, I am just not sure how to find them, is it word of mouth only? I am not talking about places with big websites who do this type of thing all the time, but private, smaller locations through local people.

I don’t know of anyone who would do this for a total stranger.

I know plenty of people who will do it for a close friend or family member, but not if that same friend or family member said they knew someone who wanted to use their place. There is a huge liability risk when you allow people onto your property. If one of your guests trips over a rock and gets a concussion, they can sue the homeowner for negligence.

You and your guests will also cause a lot of wear and tear to the property…setting up chairs, arches, aisle runner, maybe even a tent. Then a hundred or so people trample the lawn. And where do they go to the bathroom? You either have to rent portapotties (not such a good idea when you have guests formally dressed for a wedding) or the homeowner has to allow hundreds of strangers into their home to use the bathroom. This opens up a whole other liability issue–things go missing or get broken, so the homeowner has to file an insurance claim and then his premiums go up.

And what about a rain option? Are you going to expect this person to allow you and your guests to use his actual home for the ceremony if it rains that day?

I think your best bet it to try to find a bed and breakfast that is on an estate that will let you have the ceremony on their lawn and use the dining room or living room if it rains.

Good luck!

I have heard good about the palm islands…..is there any hotels as nice or better than the Burj Al Arab?

Go for Al Qasr, much more romantic: http://www.madinatjumeirah.com/al_qasr/

Second choice would be The One and Only Royal Mirage: http://www.oneandonlyroyalmirage.com/

I have only seen the outside of the brand new Palace near Burj Dubai which is stunning. I heard the hotel is very nice, but the area around it is still very much under construction: http://www.sofitel.com/sofitel/fichehotel/gb/sof/6230/fiche_hotel.shtml

Burj Al Arab is special because it is over the top, gold, glitter and mirrors. Go there for lunch or a dinner but stay somewhere else. The Palm Jumeirah has residents living there, but the hotels, villas and other facilities are still under construction:http://www.startpagedubai.com/real_estate/Palm_Jumeirah_Dubai.htm

Until I get an answer….dumb b**** hahaha

How many times are you going to ask this same question?

Try theknot.com. They list wedding vendors and venues by area.

Ok, I know this sounds like a weird question, but it is really just for fun… On my profile for facebook I have a love and a hate list and all of my friends think it is fun, so I thought I’d see what people on here have to say…
