My best friend is getting married in costa rica in jan 2013. We are looking for the best west cost beach with affordable prices and great views where they can rent a house fitting 20 or more ppl and find wedding accommodations. Any suggestions?

I was married in February in Manuel Antonio and had 28 guests, Meghan at http://ourcostaricawedding.com/ was wonderful and I definitely recommend contacting her. She helped us pick the right part of the country, then the specific hotel- we used Falls Resort for its intimacy, friendly service (tehy were wonderful) and affordable rates for our guests with different room styles to accommodate couples or families (she had originally sent us a couple villas that would have accommodated our entire party, completely amazing but unfortunately wouldn’t work with our parents so maybe you can look at those), She worked out an itinerary and total price which was helpful for all of our guests to know what they would actually be spending before they even RSVP’d, and then kept the wedding within our budget. Costa Rica is beautifulll though, your friend will LOVE it! We traveled more afterwards and if your friend wants a more off the path kinda area Dominical was incredible. Costa Rica was the perfect place, all of our guests kept telling us it was the trip of a lifetime and for us, of course it was! I hope that helps!!

Lately I have been asking for help in planning my wedding and I want to thank everyone so far for their input. Here is my next issue:
We would love to have our wedding ceremony on the beach and for our reception, which will likely be indoors, we would like to carry on the beach theme. For example we are thinking of buying glass vases and filling it with sand and shells and using that as center pieces. We would also love to have my husband in his military uniform because that is important to both of us. My question is this: Would the military uniform conflict with the beach theme?
We will be getting married in California. The area that we have in mind is always warm and beautiful in the summer and the wind is generally minimal or nonexistent. We are pretty set on a the beach, unless we decide this one beautiful mountain area.

When it comes to peoples personal opinions on politics and government, I do my best to never insult anyone because I believe everyone is entitle to their thoughts and beliefs. That being said, please do not take this the wrong way: My husbands military uniform in our wedding has nothing to do with any past, present or future president or any government person or idea. His uniform is merely a display of internal pride to serve and protect the people and the rights of the people in the United States. I am proud of who is and what he does and I know our family feels the same. Just know that I am not offended by people’s personal beliefs but I would prefer to keep this question regarding whether or not his military fits the beach theme.

Military dress uniforms are very formal, so as long as your dress and the wedding party’s dress is also formal, then his uniform if fine. The only suggestion I have about beach weddings is to make sure your dress does NOT have a train. Trains drag in the sand, it get dirty and sand collects in the hem.
Buy clean white playground sand for your centerpieces and you can get cheap shells and things like star fish and sand dollars at the "Dollar Tree".
Good Luck……

Our (Slightly Exciting, Completely Unlucky, Hilarious) Beach Wedding:

2 minutes and 30 seconds in to the video, our luck really runs out as we encounter a major surprise.

Our romantic beach wedding was planned for October 2010 (the best time of the year at the beach we were told). Nothing went as planned. We laughed about the bad luck all weekend long.

To answer common questions: The groom returned the tux the next day and the wave segment happened 2 days later when it was sunny. He was in his finest sweats because that’s what we had on hand. We planned to edit the pictures to remove the white from his pants. Had we known this would have happened, we would have kept the tux.

Also, the wedding dress survived. It was full of rocks (as the beach was more rocky than sandy), but was successfully cleaned and looks great!

And, no we haven’t taken our honeymoon yet…
