Best way to plan wedding in Puerto Rico?

My fiance and I would like to get married in Puerto Rico. Here’s the catch, this destination wedding is just going to be for the two of us. We don’t want to invite anyone else or have the traditional reception afterwards. I have been researching wedding packages for Puerto Rico, but they all seem to assume that destination weddings include lots of family and friends. I have never really traveled outside of the east coast of the U.S., so all of this is becoming very overwhelming. I would really appreciate any inside advice!
That’s not a destination wedding. You are eloping. The reason that it’s an elopement vs. a destination wedding is because it’s just the two of you. Destination weddings are considered to be in very bad taste because of the undue burden they place on others. Elopements don’t have the same issues because you are not asking others to have the burdens of travel and lodging, schedule conflicts, etc.
You should be able to make the arrangements through an experienced travel agent near where you live, or you can do the research and make the arrangements yourselves. Be sure to see if there is a blood test or waiting period required for the marriage license there. some of the resorts should have elopement packages available and they should be able to advise you. Make sure that you tell them you DON’T want a destination wedding ……..you want an elopement. If you say destination wedding they will misunderstand it to mean a large group of travelers.
